Hello everyone. I'm sorry it has been so long since I blogged but my Mom has been very sick, Dad was afraid she might not ever come home...but she did!!!! Mom just came home today from that bad hospital place that was keeping her from me. I hope to be able to tell you more in the next couple of days.

Thank you all for all the love you have been sending Mom's way. I know it made all the difference and that she will never leave me again.

How Are You Today?

DJ Trailers can I help you? Sloan knows just what to say...he is so funny as customers come in he will often ask them "How Are You Today?"...guess he's already a lil' salesman.

Sometimes this lil' fella comes to work and he does enjoy setting at PaPa's desk doing some paperwork and answering the phone. I wonder when he will figure out about paychecks....for now he's content with highlight markers!

Friday's are usually work days for me. I try to work two days a week and my sis "Sherry" handles the rest of the days. It works out good for both of us.
Today it looks like we will be in for some rain...finally the winds have started calming down. The lil' blue farmhouse is where our kids grew up and our son and family live there now. There is a little farm pond out back that some evenings you'll find Dan and Sloan fishing.

So what do I do at work....let's see...bookkeeping, stitching, taxes, rug hooking, trailer titles, applique, answering the phone, update blog, needle punch, okay it's not all that bad is it!

So what do I keep inside the black bag...well it's my grab and go bag...filled with projects that are already cut out and ready to be made into little quilts, pinkeeps, appliques...whatever!

I'm one of those gals that doesn't like to sit without working on something. Here's a peek at what I've been working on so far today...It's little pinkeeps by Whimsicals.

Danny and I will be heading out for Springfield, Missouri this evening to deliver a load of trailers. I'm hoping we will get there and drop them off in time to visit Simply Fibers in Springfield and then make a trip up to Saltbox Primitive Woolens tomorrow. Oh and Pro Bass Shop in Springfield sounds good too....I think I just might need a little something there for my fishing buddy!

Hang On It's A Bit Windy Today!

You sure can take a beating from a load of laundry if your trying to hang it out on the line today here in Oklahoma but I conquered that basketful of towels and plan to try it again!

A little wind warning if your shopping and come out with a basketful of groceries hang onto the lightweight packages or you just might find yourself chasing a few packages across the parking lot. I speak from experience. Then again it's good exercise and surely you've gave someone a good laugh today!

Well I picked up the hook last night I just couldn't resist any longer...The rugs that still need bound are sitting right beside my chair and I am binding on one...I have promised myself to get them done and soon!

Can you guess what this is going to be? I'm just using up some of the extra wooley worms in the scrap basket...so they will each have there on individual look!

It's Been A Long Time

It's been a long time since I did a craft show and with the help of PatiJane we plan on having a booth offering some of our handmade items. We have a few months to plan and prepare since it won't be until the last Saturday in August....and knowing Oklahoma days it's sure to be a hot one!

Purcell is a small town with a big heart....matter of fact it is called the Heart of Oklahoma. It was the very place I was born and raised in. It's just up the road a ways from where I live now and if I want to find a good place to have Mexican food, buy a few groceries or visit a large number of antique shops I just hop in the truck and I'm there in a matter of 15 minutes.

Purcell was founded back in 1887 as a railroad town and was named after E.B. Purcell of Manhatten, Kansas who was an ATSF Railroad Director.

Some of the buildings on Main Street are rich with history. The Hotel Love is a 3 story Victorian Brick Building that once had visitors spend the night is now a very beautiful antique store and bed and breakfast. You can actually feel like you step back in time as you enter the lil' rooms upstairs as you enjoy all the wonderful lil' treasures.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(Love Hotel)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Old Canadian Theatre once a place to watch movies is also a great place to find antiques.
Main Street still is partially paved with bricks and there you'll find people ready to greet you with a hello and a smile. Although it's grown since I was a kid it's still good to drive through the old neighborhood where I would walk to school or the library with my sisters and remember the days of my childhood.
Well I blew the dust off the punch needle and started punching up a few items....
I finished a few appliqued pinkeeps....I'm wanting to keep everything small and simple. Then again I have lots and lots of those hooked rugs...guess I better get busy!
I Won A Wool Palette!
Look at this gorgeous wool that April of Red Jack Rugs sent me. It's a wool palette called Stormy Sea and it's just awesome.
The wool is created by April using 100% Dorr milled wool and W. Cushing's Perfection Acid Dyes. It will be fun trying them out....THANK YOU SO MUCH APRIL!!!!
April will be offering them for sale in a variety of color palettes so be sure and stop by and see all the different choices.
Hope everyone has started off their week with some sunny smiles. It's been quite cool here today but at least the sun was shining. With the winds whipping the clothes on the line it sure didn't take long for several loads to dry and oh they do smell sooo good!
I've been working on some small projects of needle punch and hand stitching. I like to keep a few projects going all the time....no idle hands here!
Eye Spy Quilt
This one is finished and soon off to a quilter. It was nice to use up some of the swapped novelty fabrics in the old stash. I think this one will go to the childrens unit at Loma Linda Hospital in CA. That is the hospital where I was born many, many years ago. My son had a minor surgery there when he was three (has it been 29 yrs ago?). The hospital has grown in leeps and bounds.
Remembering Gibby. That little dog was a foster with us last year. He was grossly overweight and sent to us since we have two fenced acres for the poodles to run. Poor Gibs was covered with rolls of fat. Over time he did loose the weight (no extra treats and lots of exercise) then went to an older gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Perfect setting for Gibby, he really wanted to be an only dog. Happy ending for another rescue pup.
Bye bye snow weekends....
Closing weekend....sad, as there is still so much snow to play in!
Soaking up the warm sun and soft snow. I just love this stuff! I'm staying right here...hugging my snows..... Mmmmmm....
The morning sun took a while to soften things...but still great for playing and rolling... Mom and dad visited the ski patrol doggies hanging at the top of the lift. There's Chewy in the middle checkin' things out.
Maybe I can sign myself up for this job!!! That would be fantastic.
T-shirts on display....we bought some last weekend.
Nice clear days and warm temps. Mountain with a caption cloud over it... Oh, and the costumes and slopeside bbq's.
Dad had a nice time.
I helped dad stay warm in the eve. He's under the blanky....sitting on his jade heating pad for his back.
Costumes everywhere.
Mom and her wigs!
And, me and MY snow and ball... Ahhhhh.
I'll just stay, ok!? Watching the morning snow sparkles.
Maybe I can convince mom and dad to make a trip to visit my snows sometime soon.
And.... wanted to say, 'Have a nice week pals!'
Sorry We've Been Out Of Commission...Blame Mom
First off, please beg my pardon. (This is me bowing, asking for your pardon.) The hoomans at our place have been a little side-tracked since the unfortunate deer incident and blogging has taken second fiddle to insurance wrangling. It still continues, but at least we convinced Mommy to get her priorities straight and get on the stick (to blog)!! In fact, some time next week she will actually get an attachment for her laptop that will bring internet to our cabin...We are soooo excited. She'll still take free wi-fi where she can, 'cuz she is quite thrifty by nature. (Dad wanted to get this for her a year ago but cheap, er, thrifty, Mom said no.)
Here is brother and me looking cute for the camera. We are in heaven being home again.
Is it me, or does Hootie look fat??
Here are a few close ups of him.
I don't know why he's smiling. He looks like a fat little tan & black sheep to me!
Well, we both need haircuts. Really, really badly!! Tomorrow Mommy will be taking us to our favorite groomer in the whole world, Miss Jody. It should be a long day, as we are pretty bushy and I (BRD) do not like to let Mom comb my hair soooo I am kind of ratty. Hootie's hair is much longer, but he likes to get his hairs brushed so he's not so bad.
We can hardly wait to get our internet connection so we can catch up on all of your bloggies. Sure hope you all are doing okay.
Smooches from,
BabyRocketDog (we left Hootie up at the cabin...howling. BOL!!)
~When Two People Fell In Love~
Imagine a young lil' gal back in 1927 writing a note to her parents telling them...
August 19th, 1927
I went down to the
road and met Mr. Doyle
and we went to Breckenridge
to get married.
So bye bye.
Will see you some time.
Nodra
(original note to her parents)
My Grandpa passed away when my Dad was just a kid so I never had the opportunity to meet him. He was quite a bit older than Granny. He loved to fish and he worked hard all of his life.
Granny Doyle and Dot(front row)
Bob(My Dad), Marvin, Don, Desmond, and Bill (left to right)
Some of the original cousins....hopefully next year we can all be reunited. We had 12 out of 18 this year!
Bill, Don, Dot, and Bob(my Dad)
We had a wonderful time this weekend seeing family we hadn't seen in years....new lil' additions were added too. Granny and Grandpa would have been proud.
Dirt Bag Poodle to Charmer
Working on clipping, MouseMan aka BabaLou isn't happy.
Gave him a break and what did he do?...... Ran over to the soft dirt and rolled.
Finished despite the dirt bath, then he had a real bubble bath. Now he smells like a rose :) Look at the yellow buds getting ready to bust open.
All the roses are starting to bloom.
Below is the Tombstone Rosebush planted last year. It's a climber and now that it's getting some runners I can put a permanent trellis behind it. I will try to get a photo of it in full bloom. Not sure how the blooming will go because it snowed during the night and again this morning after 50mph winds for two days (again). I'm afraid to go look at my roses today. The photos are from a couple days ago.
BTW- I did some quilty sewing the last few days but cannot share the photos. I sewed a bunch of blocks for the May Block Party at AboutQuilting. Ah, but they are in secret hiding until the reveal on May first. Now, after having really bad hayfever I've caught the virus my DH had, still has. Now it's bronchitis so have to take lots more meds and be carefull cuz it aggravates that dang asthma. (((sigh))) Always something it seams!
