Break Time For Daddy ~ Play Ball!!

When Dad was home he was working like a slave hand sanding our 3-sided deck and rails. We asked him to take a break and play a little ball with us, so he obliged. He's such a nice guy!! We tried to post these pictures 2 weeks ago, but blogger was acting squirrely, so decided to post it now. We miss you Dad! Hope you all have a great weekend.

Landed my Daydream!

I've made it to camping! :) This is Hume Lake...and a great spot to SWIM! Wasn't sure we would make it at all...a few delays, and a really loaded camper, mom was sure the bottom would fall out on our drive... But, 5 hours of driving, and a bit of major campsite setup, I'm here and so happy to be here :)
Already had lots and lots of lake swim times. Yay.
On the lake we can see into the massive and incredible rock formations of Kings Canyon.
Great weather so far!
There's a puppy in that boat....we tried to catch up, but they were fast!
Back at our campsite, boat ready, I was making sure everything was put in place, and set up properly.... then let my folks know we needed to get to the lake, again :)
Dad with his super special prescription diving goggles! Good for a giggle, I'd say :)
And...me....with dad. Can't believe we still fit in the kayak! Yay.
Hope you are having a nice week pals. Will check back soon!

Just a little Doodle!

A free lil' doodle from me to you! *Enjoy*

Counting The Days Until....

Autumn....Just 57 days to go! It will be here in the blink of an eye even as the scorching hot days of summer are still here. I've been watering our tomatoes and cucumbers almost twice each day as they stay thirsty in their big tubs on the porch. It sure has been nice not to have to weed a garden and still be able to reap some fresh vegetables.

I've been in the mood to make fall items and I finished this one up last night. I go through spurts of working on applique, then off to needle punch, and hooking a few rugs or mats, and sometimes a little embroidery. It's therapy for my soul to keep my hands busy.

Thank you so much for all the well wishes and concerns for Sloan. He is much better and I took him for his follow up visit today. Just a few more days on antibiotic and he should be in the all clear. His appetite is gradually coming back and he's back to running full blast once again.

I hope to catch up on reading your blogs in the next few days and catch up on what you have been doing in your neck of the woods.

Every have one of those times when....

You allow yourself to drift back in time and remember those days that are now just a memory. I do a lot it seems. I like to think back of climbing trees, making mudpies, racing my bicycle down the street and standing up on the seat and letting the breeze hit my face.
Memories of walking home after school talking with my sisters of what had happened during the day. Oh how time slipped by so quickly. Remembering the first date with a boy and oh it just happened I married that boy.
The joy of being blessed with a little freckled faced red headed boy and an onery blond headed but sweet little girl. Summer days of wading pools, t~ball games, broken arms :( climbing trees, graduations and then leaving home.
Newer memories of holding another little boy that is now growing up so quickly. I must say I love to slip back into time and remember days that are now gone. Picturing my grandparents that are no longer here but when I close my eyes I remember...fresh baked cookies, hands that taught me to crochet, planting what seemed like endless rows of onions :)
So do you allow yourself to slip back into time?

Woo Woo ~ Thanks Scruffy, Lacie & Stanley!!

Baby Rocket Dog decided to dig into the box that arrived addressed to both of us.
It's come across the USA from Scruffy, Lacie and Stanley.

Come on Baby, can't I help open it??

Thanks. Now I feel like I'm apart of it all!

I chose Bikini Duck 'cuz she has a purple bikini like LacieGirl!

Baby Rocket Dog ran off with the tug of was toy AND my duck!! Give it back Baby.

Now mama wouldn't let us touch this lovely glass Airedale.
She already found the perfect place for it. Away from us.

Can you believe Lacie even sent some of her signature doggie d00d00 bags?!

Here I am enjoying my Bikini Duck once more.
She even makes a sharp, squeaking noise similar to Lacie!

I love this thing!!

All of a sudden my Duck vanished. Where is it??

Why you little thief, Baby!!You are pretty possesive of MY toy!

Okay, trade time. I'll check this out now.

Thank you sooo much Scruffy, Lacie and BabyStan. We are so pleased that Scuff's potty problem is resolved (when we guessed!!) and just love the prizes. You are too kind. We love our toys and mommy loves the glass Dale that she claimed for her own.

Kids and VBS and A Few Minutes of Stitching!

I had the pleasure of helping with Vacation Bible School last week and I think I can say the kids as well as the adults had fun. My sister Jane was in charge and she really did a good job organizing the lessons, crafts, and outdoor activities.
The kids learned about children in God's kingdom. They learned action songs, made t-shirts, banners, crowns, money bags, and a lot more interesting things to take home.
The outside activities involved musical throne, obstacle courses, and building sand castles. Of course each day they enjoyed some special treats.
My niece Erin played a huge part in instructing the kids in the crafts and outdoor activities.

The American Primitive Gathering group that I belong to on eBay held a wonderful online retreat this weekend featuring Sunflowers. I did find a couple of late evenings to sit and relax and make a few little projects.

A very plain and simple wool sunflower applique.

Sunflower coasters so quick and easy!

I also got another sunflower and pumpkin cut out and just have some stitching left to do on this one.

Hope your enjoying a delightful Monday I know I am!

RainBow Sunday

Rainy season here on the high desert. Who would have thunk it rains all summer in a desert? It does here in the Sonoran Desert. Moisture comes up from Baha CA and Gulf of Mexico June- August.

More rain falls close to mountains. Sometimes the moutains disappear during heavy rainfall. The mountains you can't see in above photo are the Huachucas (meaning thunder).

Everything is so fresh after a rain storm.
Looks like Moose found the pot'o gold!

Genesis 9:13
I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth.

I am still here

Do you know I am now 3 years old? It was my birthday a few days ago (on the 19th) and although we didn't do anything exciting I did get lots of packets of my favorite treats. You would think on ones birthday that you would be allowed to eat as many as you want - but NOOOOOO Dad said it wouldn't be good for me.

As for the Mom, she is doing okay - not great but she is hanging in there. We are still waiting for when she can have the skin graft and it seems like every week the doctors say "next week". Sadly, she has been in a lot of pain and it hurts even for her to pat and cuddle me. That is okay though because I much prefer to cuddle with my Dad anyway.

Friday Night Sew-in Project

Fabric choices for Churn Dash blocks. It's about time to cut into these stashed (for too long) fabrics.

And more fabrics. I am pulling all colors that are more muted or "dusty".

Not sure about using just one background fabric. Maybe should use a variety of different creams.... will sew a few blocks before I decide.

Now, how many to cut, how big do I want my quilt to be? These are ten inch blocks, maybe 6 across and 8 down would make a nice sofa sized.
(Hey sis- hope you like these fabrics because I'm cutting fabrics for you to sew a quilt too).

I have so many started projects but have always wanted to finish a Churn Dash quilt to keep for myself. Hope I get this one into a finished quilt. Maybe I will pull it out on Fridays and use it for my Friday Night Sew-in project until complete. Here is a finished block.

Tonight was cool with a slight breeze so we stayed out until dark to enjoy. Clouds in distance were beautiful, the photo is not retouched. Started my sewing project late tonight so I'm tired and will work more on it another day.

It's A LOVE ~ HATE Relationship

Confession #1 I love desserts....love ice cream, pie, cake, cookies, chocolate, cobbler, brownies, cheesecake, peanut clusters, if it's considered dessert I LOVE it! Of course it loves me right back.

Confession # 2 I love Mexican food! Of Course it loves me right back.

Confession # 3 It's time to do something about Confession #1 and #2.

It's A Love ~ Hate Relationship for sure.....love the desserts and mexican food but hate seeing what can happen at the scale!

Well Sloan is home from the hospital and is still battling the eye infection. It is starting to look better but he still needs some time to heal. Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts for him.

Daydreams....

Hello hello!! It's been a bit of time...somone's been busy, in need of camera batteries, etc...all the excuses! But, I've been daydreaming again...wishing I could rewind to a few weekends ago... Oh yea....cool waters of Prosser Reservoir in Truckee.
Mmmmm..nice little Spanish Creek in Quincy. I'm staying and I NEED my stick!
However, the reality is that, that was a few weekends ago....and really, I have been doing more of these sorts of activities>>>
I sit, you treat...ok, I'll be gentle.
Not exactly the cool outdoor-type landscape, but this will do. Spash splash splash....
And, on to remembering where I was this time a year ago...and a wee bit smaller... Putting my super powers cap on to daydream my future to somwheres like this spot, hope it works! Daydreaming of these sorts of activities >>>
Hope mom will 'bring' the hair doo again. Attack!
This year someone may need to get his own boat!
Beam me up here please!!!!
Hope I find myself somewheres in the great outdoors soon. Wish me luck!
Happy week friends :)
