WrestleMania Terrier Style!

Well, the fake tree is up and now our mom is bombarding us with Christmas music. Though we must say that Mommy's Manheim Steamroller CDs are most excellent for bitie face and wrestling!

Crafty Ideas & Sick Chickens

I need to come up with some small crafty auction items by Dec 15th. (Last month I re-joined the Ft Huachuca Community Spouses Club). The upcoming December luncheon will have a silent auction of crafted, baked or purchased items. All proceeds go to local community charities. Below is an apron panel I could finish but not sure if anyone would want an apron? It has cute mits and potholders.

I ran across some cut star blocks in Christmas fabrics, maybe a table runner? That's a lot of work for me to put together a runner for auction. I guess if bids are low I can bid on my own items and bring them home for gifts. It is after all $$ going to local charity projects.

Two sick chickens. Both are getting injections to help them get better. They get wrapped burrito style in a towel so I can sub-q inject the med with tiny insulin needle. They mind getting wrapped but not getting needle stuck- thank goodness!

Miss Red hen has a chest cold, we could hear the chest rattle outside the coop. I listen every night when closing up.

Little Dutch roo Boo is sick with chest cold again. I wonder if we put him back out too soon from his last cold? Sorry little fella!
So far the others are well. It has turned to freezing cold at night, daytime temps are in 50's with high wind. No one is fond of this cold wind, 'cept for the younger poodles that play and run non-stop.

Finding Winter

Oh my mmmmmmmm! After a clear drive to the Kirkwood area late Friday afternoon, we woke up Saturday morning to big snows! I had been dreaming about this all summer! Finally, ahhhh.
It was a cold and wintery day on Saturday.
Snow storm? No worries! I'm an all weather gal.
Saturday's storm delivered many more inches of snow and we woke up Sunday morning to blue skies and more of the fluffy white stuff.
It was an amazing day. Quite a big start for winter in this section of our Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. I was thrilled!Lots and lots of playing the 'find it' game and practicing long line powder recalls with mom.
Taking a few seconds break time.... And, off I go....can you find me? You still there?
Face-plant swimmin'. Wootwoot! A lot of work yet, so much fun. The weekend went by too fast....and soon we were headed home...
A slow drive down the very slippery mountain roads.
Will definitely be resting up, ready for another visit to the mountains!
Have a nice week friends :)

In The Wink of An Eye

Well it's official I'm 48 years YOUNG!!!! I have no problem stating my age. 365 days have ticked away again....days of family and friends. Days of ups and downs, days filled with work, laughter, tears, laughter, and so much more. In all of it I am truly blessed!

I think the above card was my favorite. My sister "Sherry" and I seem to exchange about 5 or 6 cards a year and the siller the better. For some reason this picture is who I want to be as I get a full head of gray hair!

I do have one request if you don't mind....tomorrow my dad will be having some surgery and if you would please keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery.

Wishing each of you a blessed week.

Happy ThanksGiving to All

Hungry horses waiting for breakfast after chickens get fed.Chelsea says lets get hay, grab the wheel barrow and let's go!Some nice alfalfa to feed at night. Digesting alfalfa hay produces heat and keeps horses warm.
So many tumbleweeds grew from early rains. That will teach me to keep up with pulling young ones next year. Have to hire a man to help with weed pulling.Round pen looks like an overgrown garden!Weeds in round pen grew out of control this past summer. A yucca is growing next to hidden mounting bench. We pass old Bens grave every day on way to barn. Ben was a big old black poodle dog that was tossed into rescue. Owners did not want anymore, too old. We had Ben over a year, my DH dearly loves the old ones and takes good care of them. Now we have old Dodger and he is doing ok.Windy and cool so the flock mostly stays under a mesquite tree. Until I tossed in a pile of alfalfa. They eat the leaves and scratch under the stems. Keeps all of them warm and busy. Two of the hens are still looking scruffy from a molt. Need feathers cuz it's getting cold here in SE AZ. Supposed to freeze tonight.
Chores finished, time to get the turkey in oven.

Be Ye Thankful

Wishing each of you a day filled with blessings from above.

I am thankful for so many things in my life...knowing that I have a Lord that knows my every need even before I ask. A Lord that is forgiving even when I'm undeserving.

I'm thankful for such a loving family and friends that are near and far. Cupboards that are filled with food, the warmth of a home and a vehicle that gets me where I need to go.

Thankful for health and happiness and even at times even sadness. You take those times of sorrow or unhappiness and you learn and grow from them....even when at the time you don't think you will.

God does provide for our needs.

I'm thankful for the country that I live in and those who fought bravely so that I may enjoy freedom today. It came with a price and I'll never forget the sacrifices that were made.

May you enjoy your Thanksgiving day and take a few moments and give thanks for all the blessings that have touched your life.

Fast Parkie

The rains had just stopped and there was enough time for a super fast parkie stroll yesterday. We had joined dad on a trip to the town of Los Gatos, where he used to live (before mom snagged him) to some appointments. Lots of car riding, so this was a treat.
The fall colors were all over...late day light...crisp air... We were exploring a small area of the 150 acre Vasona County Park.
We scooted around this parkie pretty quick, and with big smiles!
Below is the Oak Meadow area. Brilliant colors.
We stopped by the park train. Called the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad. Wootwoot!
Strolling throgh Pepper Tree Lane.
This parkie is on leash, and you'll see why.... a few pix below. I took a silly faces break :)
Ah. The light was growing low, but we could see still see this beautiful egret.
I was good. Watching quietly and keeping very still.
Giving me the look....that was a thank you look :)
And, off we went to more parkie....stopping for a quick surprise eyed snap.
Amazing skies above.
We caught up with more egrets enjoying their parkie time in the creek closer to Vasona Lake.
This park is home to many Great White Egrets and herons.
Those dramatic skies following us.
Our turn around point was at the end of this bridge.
As the park festive light sculptures were just being turned on.
And, back we flew....
Catching that light and wishing we had just a few more minutes.
We'll be back. Lots more to explore. Had to grab a stickie for my parting dash :)
We had a fantastic time here. Not so many folks out and about, beautiful autumn walk. Ah! Hope to make it back here, and also to catch up with a bloggy pal we realized is in the area...hmmmm mystery.
Have a great rest of the week friends :)
