There is nothing more pawsome then to get a card on your birthday and sometimes there are even snackies or treats !!!!! Even the "IT" got on the computer (mind you "IT" sat on the keyboard - the dashy dork he is) to add his details and if "IT" can do it - anyone can! He even has his own Facebook page now - what a copy cat (dog).

Rug Hooking and Oxford Punch

It's been an amazing week. First I would like to thank all of those concerned about the tornado's here in Oklahoma. One of the local towns suffered quite a bit of damage and many lost there homes. As the surrounding communities pull together to help one another somehow life goes on for those affected. The worst part is not the material things but the loss of life. I am especially saddened by the heartache of the families that lost children. Just makes my heart ache for all the family and friends that knew these little ones. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those with this tremendous loss.

Our ebay group leader Kelley thought we all needed a bit of sunshine and came up with the idea for a challenge to make a sunflower. This is the one I came up with!

I attended the Star of Texas Rug Hooking Camp in Tyler, Texas last week and really enjoyed the time I spent visiting with some of the gals I met last year. Of course there was lots of inspiration to see with all the wonderful rugs that were presented at the rug show. Hope you enjoy looking at a few of them.

I took an oxford punch class with Frank Bielec. He is such a wonderful teacher. Not only do you learn all kinds of new things you hear such funny stories that always keeps you smiling. There was a total of 9 of us in the class. This is part of the group. We all were there right up until the end.

These four gals were also from Oklahoma and were such fun. They all came from the Broken Bow area and this was the first time they had ever worked with wool to make a rug and they made some outstanding projects! I think they are hooked :)

Frank treated each of us to our own special rug. Just name anything and he would draw you a pattern.

For my rug I chose a farm scene with chickens, cows, a house, flowers and a flag. I was simply amazed at how fast he can draw.....

Well I hope to show you more rugs and some of the projects I made in the upcoming days. I've got a bit of catching up to do around the old farm place first. The laundry basket is spilling over and the tomato and pepper plants are hiding in the weeds :(

Have a safe and Happy Memorial Day and remember to say a prayer of thanks for all of those who have served and are serving today for our country. We wouldn't have the comfort of FREEDOM if it were not for the sacrifices that have been made!

Happy Trails.....Ginger

Such a sad day

Today we heard we had lost one our blogging buddies. Deacon was a beautiful collie who lived in Florida and we have known him and Essex since we first started blogging. Deacon crossed the rainbow very suddenly so please call by his bloggie and offer some support to his Dad Dog and Essex. Our hearts are just breaking this morning and Mom eyes keep filling up with water - we seemed to have lost so many wonderful buddies this year and although we know they are all having a wonderful time over the Rainbow bridge -we miss them and think of them often.

What Is This??

Oh the horror. Oh the embarassment. Why would our mommy take a photo like this? Am I meerly something to be toyed with for her own sick amusement? Where is the rest of my body?! Out of like the last 100 pictures she has taken lately of flowers and trees and shadows and other dogs...THIS is the only picture she takes of me? Really?? This weekend there better be a LOT of proper photos taken of me. Or else...

Friday Stuff

Ugh, a short heatwave in the 90's has come early to our area. So, this is a good day to work on my PP Pop blocks. Once I figure out sizes to cut fabric pieces the project really takes off.
I sewed these yesterday, so far sew good. Glad I had stocked up on lime green, it pops the Pops. (Ha, ha).

Chicken stuff- Meet Boyd
Neighbors hen raised one chick for a few weeks and then left it (normal hen mothering). Boyd is a cross from white Leghorn Roo and black Australorp. He was lonely so we put him in my coop with bigger chicks.
When Boyd is big enough he will go back home with neighbors gentler flock. It will be interesting to see how the black marks develop on Boyds wings.

The hen waterhole is great for the sudden jump in temps these few days.

Resourceful hens have figured out they can get a cool damp dirt bath if they excavate close to the waterhole. That big rock was in their way so they scratched around and moved it! LOL

Polish chicks just keep growing their head feathers.Females sport a nice big well groomed pouf. Roosters have unruly long head feathers. UH-OH, these two are growing some pretty wild head toppers!

Dear Smudgie has the right idea about hanging out.She is under the ceiling fan enjoying the constant breeze.

"IT" the ball hog!

The "IT" is very fond of the ball - in fact "IT" is a darn ball hog! And no - even when we have a few balls outside "IT" will still hog them ALL.

SO here I was having a nice game of catch with the Mom when off to the side comes this streaking blur of fur, grabs the ball and the gleefully runs off with it! If that isn't bad enough "IT" then runs to MY Mom with the ball in his mouth, tail wagging as if it has no speed limit and then stands there looking all cute with the ball in it's mouth - which I might add is bigger then his head! Really - the things I have to endure having "IT" live with us! Click on the photo's to see them bigger and notice the action shots - how does "IT" balance on one foot like that?

An Opps! With some roots, and furmom news...

My busy hoomans! How could they forget that my barkday happens EVERY April!

To make it up, I've been getting extra hugs, extra treats....

And promisses of another summer of cherished trips to this area....my roots!Back under the moons of 2009 my soon-to-be hoomans camped at one of their all time favorite places, below the Sierra Buttes, at Sardine Lakes.
In the Spring of 2009 my soon-to-be hoomans had heavy hearts .....they had said goodbye to Golden Honey a constant companion for almost 14 years.
And, on this one trip to the area, they discovered a special property...went for a visit...and with big silly smiles....
Met some very cute, smart and fun pups!
Furmom and furdad, River and Trip greeted my soon-to-be hoomans at their Plumas County property in the Sierra Nevada's...bordered by Forest Service land and within a short walk to the Feather River. My soon-to-be hoomans made a number of camping trips to the area, and though all my siblings were sweet and cute...they picked me! Late Spring 2009 it was time to head out in to my new life of adventures!

Above is Mom, River. I was part of the Sargent Pepper Litter!

And...well...this story isn't just about me... River is due with her second litter SOON!

Can't wait to visit! Sure to be pretty sweet goldens. Dad, Trip, on their fantastic property!

The most amazing furs, and sparkling eyes.

So, I said goodbye to my siblings, all who have wonderful homes...and some I hope to meet again one day. You can even visit one of my brofurs, Gibbs, over at The Maybe Brothers blog! Gibbs and his handsome brofurs live in Plumas County and get their pick of swimmins' in many high country lakes! These days, with my hoomans, and as a more grown up pup... we make trips to camp under the Sierra Buttes, swim in Sardine Lakes, and pop over for a hello my roots family!
Love the beauty of the area.
And the fantastic stickies!
Have a really nice weekend friends! May we cherish every day with our hoomans!

Critters @ A Montana Auction

Mommy went to the Amish school auction in Montana on Saturday and left us home. She rode along with some neighbors, so said that is why we couldn't go with her. She snapped these photos of a few 4-leggeds that she saw at the auction so we could see what we missed. That little malti-poo was a real cutie. Very photogenic. Sure wish we had gone along. Oh well. Later!
