One More Trip

What a wonderful day Sloan and I had yesterday....yes it's after midnight here in Oklahoma. We made one last trip to the zoo for the year. The weather was wonderful a little cool but not windy just a perfect day.
He loves feeding the Leerakets and they love the nectar.

We decided this guy sure looks sad setting inside. He must be awful bored. Do you see the little bald patch on Sloan. His mom said he got ahold of her brother's clippers and gave himself a haircut! Oh well it will grow back!

Been pulling loops again. Hope you have found some time this week to do something you enjoy!

It's a winter wonderland

Wow wow wow ! We got 4 inches of snow last night and have we been having so much fun this morning. You know this is a bit of an odd thing for us here in Arkansas but I guess the weather dogs were all working just at the right time to create this. Anyway - The little dude Wuzster (Denny) has decided he TOTALLY loves it. This is his first snow! There is hope for the boy after all! He races around and jumps up at the tree branches to make the snow fall, he grabs mouthfuls of it and then shakes his head at the cold (probably getting brain freeze the dufuss). Me - I am just just enjoying laying down in the snow and enjoying the cold (I bet I could give the Woo's a run for their cookies when it comes to enjoying the snow - hmmm maybe I am a new hybrid polar sheltie???) Mom thinks it funny that whenever she look outside - there I am curled up in the snow fast asleep - she says I look like a husky. Sadly most of it will melt away today but while it is here we are going to enjoy it - "get the towels ready Mom - we are going out again!!!!!" Gawoof gawoof - Mom isn't so happy that she has to dry us off every time we come back inside.

A Day Of Happiness!

I received a tremendous amount of birthday wishes and it really was such a heartwarming day! My sisters always find the most interesting cards, especially my sis "Sherry" we have been giving each other several cards each birthday and it's fun to collect them throughout the year for each other.

Inside this one it says....."Right your kids are almost as old as you!"

Sad thing is they are getting close to that mark!

This one says tie it around your butt! Thanks to my lil' sis Bobbie for this one!

Now for the best part of the day we found out today Jenn and Ryan will be having a little girl next April....Danny had it predicted and he was right. They have chosen the name Eva Mae and she is growing just fine!

I met the kids and my Mom and Dad for a dinner at a local Mexican restaurant and then Sloan announced he was coming to spend the night. He told his Dad he was staying for 10 days.....Oh boy! He is here snoring as I type!

I also want to show you what came in the mail a few days ago. A very SPECIAL friend made me this beautiful cross~stitch runner and a hooked Christmas tree pin. Also, included was a stash of goodies for Sloan which he was thrilled with. You know who you are and I just want you to know it still makes me smile just knowing you stitched it up just for me!

Well what a full day filled with so many blessings! My heart is overflowing with thankfulness!

Long Weekend, I'm Tired

Playing with some fabric today helped rejuvenate me a little. These are flannel blocks from a kitty swap with the AboutQuilting forum members(many years ago).
Not sure about a border. Maybe some paper-pieced mousies all around? Don't want to be too complicated or it won't ever get finished. Maybe a plain border with a mouse in each corner.

Was hoping to get tree up and the multi-color lights strung on branches. Well, at least the tree is up. This is an old tree with fiber-optic strands in branches. It is so lovely, I still like its' sparkly look.It had white lights but they stopped working so we pulled them off. Every year I'm happy the fiber-optic part still works :)

Gonna get the kitchen painted after first of next year. Still testing paint colors, I want a yellow, like sunflowers. Maybe with a touch of gold. That's a hard color to find.

It's snowing

Look at my deck ! It's snowing and it's big fluffy flakes and we are having so much fun playing in it. The "Wuzster" was a little scared of it to begin with but I showed him how pawsome it is to be able to run in the cold and not get all hot - after that he was one happy little dude and has been jumping up trying to catch the flakes ever since. Dog oh dog - I love the cold!

Changes

Mom says something odd has happened to me lately. In my 4 and a half years I have NEVER shown any interest in getting up on or sleeping on the sofa but over the last few weeks I have developed a liking to it. Don't tell her - but here are the real reasons for this change.
1. I get to be close to my dad
2. When I stand up on the back of the sofa I can see out the big window
3. The 'wuzster' otherwise known as Denny hasn't figured out how to jump up the sofa so it gives me time away from him
4. I find lots of good crumbs in the cushions that my dad drops
5. I get to "butt change" the remote and put on my favorite shows
6. I get LOTS of cuddles from my dad when I jump up next to him.
7. My bones are not getting any younger and I now enjoy a bit of padding to rest them upon.
8. I get to smirk at Mom and say "see I love my Dad" - you are just okay!

PS - talking about looking our the big window - I just did and it's SNOWING !!!!!

Something is happening

Now as a new puppy to life where everything is still strange and unusual for me I have noticed something very odd. It seems to be getting COLD. Mommy says I am noticing this because I was a summer puppy. This "cold" thing is a new phenomenon to me an although I must admit I have been really enjoying sitting out on my (I mean Weilly's) deck lately - I am also noticing that first thing in the morning it makes my little footsies feel a bit funny. That is when I come running inside and snuggle up on my little bed. And you know what else - the grass is scrunchy !!! Mommy says it's because we have had some frosts in the morning lately and that makes the grass icy and cold.

You know, when you are 'new' to life there seems to be a lot of strange things that don't seem to make sense. Take this morning for instance. Daddy decided to clean up the yard and take some trash to the refuge center and do you know what he did - he took Weilly for a car ride with him and left me at home - boo hoo!!!!! Now admittedly I am scared about getting in the car and tend to run away and hide but once I am in the car I am fine - but do you think that is any reason to leave me home? Sure it would of meant 10 minutes of chasing me around the house but I would of loved that car ride once I got in it. Instead I had to stay home and be with the boring old Mommy.

I guess you are wondering how Mommy is doing too. She gets pretty frustrated some days as even the smallest tasks wear her out and leave her feeling dizzy, shaking and needing to lay down for an hour. And needless to say on top of it all the poor Mommy also got Daddy's flu. She didn't get it as bad as Dad but enough to make her spend a few days just sleeping in bed - the hardest thing for her though is the coughing. When you have a tummy full of stitches - the last thing you want to do is start coughing. Hopefully next Wednesday she will have all the stitches out and we will be able to start doing more again. Oh Mommy wanted to say a special thank you to Dawn and Katie (gawoof gawoof did you know Weilly is smitten over Miss Katie - he thinks she is soooo pretty) Dawn and Katie sent Mommy a get well card and it arrived when she was feeling really yucky and it helped cheer her up lots.

A Day of Thanksgiving

Just want to take this time and say how very thankful I am for my family and friends! Thanksgiving has always been a special time for me....I love to think back on my childhood days and all the wonderful memories we all made. Some bring tears to my eyes knowing that those days are so long gone but then I think of the wonderful new memories that are yet to be made!

Danny started a fire in the wood stove late last night and the smell of the wood brought back so many memories...memories of both of my Grandma's now both resting in the arms of the Lord. I do miss them dearly!

So with that take time to reflect on all the blessings we have each and every day and tell those near and dear that you LOVE them for this is a time of THANKSGIVING!

We plough the fields and scatter
The good seed on the land,
But it is fed and watered
By God's almighty hand:
He sends the snow in winter,
The warmth to swell the grain,
The breezes and the sunshine,
And soft, refreshing rain.

Refrain:
All good gifts around us
Are sent from heaven above;
Then thank the Lord,
O thank the Lord,
For all his love.

He only is the maker
Of all things near and far;
He paints the wayside flower,
He lights the evening star;
The winds and waves obey him,
By him the birds are fed;
Much more to us, his children,
He gives our daily bread.

We thank thee then, O Father,
For all things bright and good,
The seed time and the harvest,
Our life, our health, our food.
Accept the gifts we offer
For all thy love imparts,
And what thou most desirest,
Our humble, thankful hearts.

Happy Thanksgiving ~ What We're Thankful For...

Here Hootie and I are keeping warm by the fire. We're thankful for our fireplace. We both got our hairs cut last Thursday so we need to get extra warmth. We are thankful that we get groomed by wonderful Jody. If you would like to see us playing in the snow on Thanksgiving Day past, just click on this: http://hootieandbabyrocketdog.blogspot.com/2009/11/early-thanksgiving-wish-from-farrr.html Hootie was a little shrimp back then! Bol. We sent our daddy outside to bring the wood in for us. This is when we got about 2 feet of snow. We're thankful for our daddy!

Here's a shot from our deck 4 days ago. This owl is supposed to keep the dumb birds from hitting our window. We are thankful that we are pooches, and NOT birds!
It "warmed up" to 40F degrees and started raining yesterday and now there is lots of GREAT slush all over! We are very thankful for the great outdoors that we can run in. We're looking forward to a tasty Thanksgiving meal tomorrow & hope all our friends have a Happy Thanksgiving Day too! We love you all!!

Fluffy boy

Mommy says I am starting to get a nice fluffy coat now and a bushy tail. I just know I prefer sleeping on the nice cool tiles rather then the carpet because this fluffy coat is hot. Weilly and I have been soooo busy looking after Mommy and Daddy. Mommy is still very sore and sees her surgeon tomorrow to have some stitches out and Daddy is still very sick with the flu. He has even been home the last two days and Weilly says Daddy NEVER takes days off work unless he is really really sick. I hope Weilly and I don't get the flu I don't want to make those weird noises that Daddy does.

Back to Playing Hookie and A Road Trip

I do love pulling those wool loops and yes I'm even binding! Pati Jane and I will be updating our selling blog in a few days so need to keep those hands busy!

We took a quick road trip with our daughter and son in law over the weekend. We headed to Branson and had a great time. On the way home we stopped at this CRAZY Antique shop...it was a bit on the scary side!

They had lots of everything....need a fire hydrant or a mini ferris wheel?

Old pumps...

Need to save on electricity...how about a lantern?

Cast iron skillet or cornbread pan?

All sizes and styles of crocks!

Jenn and Ryan found a really cool 4 x 4 Bug while in Branson. We enjoyed Silver Dollar City and a little bit of shopping. In no time it was time to head home again for another work week.

If you haven't entered the giveaway be sure to leave a comment on the previous post...the winner will be announced Thanksgiving evening.
