Any One Else Join the FNS ?

I almost forgot it was time for FNS again. But, I was gonna sew anyways :)

It was fun choosing fabrics for this project.

Lots cut and ready to sew. First of four leaves finished.

Had to sew many HST's for leaves.Ugh, must applique the stems.

Scarecrow head. I used a looser weave rustic looking fabric.

Lined it with a thin muslin. There will be lots of applique to finish the face and add "hair".

Bottom row of leaf blocks sewn to shirt edge. I decided to use different colors from the pattern photo.

Two six inch leaf blocks for top row.Check out the cool hat fabric. Bought a FQ of that long time ago. Perfect for a scarecrow hat.

It's nice to sew with a friend. Mouse was my trusty sew partner right to the end.

A Finish

Mule/Burro quilt is finished. I was so nervous about picking fabrics and then changing from the original chosen pattern.
But I'm tickled with how it all came together.

Quilting was done by Millie Kriel (Millie's Quilting)in Texas. Thank you Millie for a quick turn-around on this one. I love the stars and other designs in the panto, perfect for the fabrics.

Binding fabric is a warm woodgrain brown. I like the look, it brought out the warm colors of the animal coats. Now to wash and dry then get this quilt to my neighbor. I think she will enjoy the quilt.

Working on Harvest Welcome

The Harvest Welcome scarecrow is coming along. I decided to make his gathered neck really gathered. This helped avoid lots of applique. I will applique the straw hair cuz it will look best that way.
Foster pooch, "Micro Dog". I thought his name was Jake but one of the others was named Jake on PetFinder. So, we decided on MicroDog since we have mega dogs and a mini dog (DH's idea).

This little poodle/chihuahua is ready to adopt out. He was so wild but is getting really friendly, just a bit shy yet.
Skies have been so beautiful, had to document some shots here.

I'll be trying to post more often, lots going on.

Quilted Bag and Barn Poodles

Pulled out this older UFO to finish today (from 2006?). Started this bag in a class at Thimble Weeds quilt shop. The shop closed last year, owner moved to Montana. Now we just have one LQS in town and it's for sale. Anyway, my sis likes cats so I'll finish the bag and send to her. The bag was for stashing cutting mat and rulers, etc for quilt class. Lots more uses for it.

This fabric is so cute, wish I had purchased more. Just need to quilt now and fold top rectangles over and stitch closed. Dowels slide thru the folded parts to make handles. I want to make another bag from horse fabric to keep my Horse & Rider magazines in. Maybe use some poodle fabric to keep my poodle books in too.

Today Mattie and Zoey went up to barn for hay with me. I follow slowly behind on the ATV. Mattie looks like she wants to go back for some shade.

Zoey always disappears, Mattie will wander back outside.

Matilda always walks up towards the round pen or dirt road but stops before getting to fence line. She doesn't hear very well and was startled by the UPS truck one day, she never forgot. Mattie looks back often to see where we are. When I start to leave she trots quickly to follow.

The two girls are ready to go inside for a long cool drink and naps.

Me too but I still need to feed the hay to Moose and Dreamer then sweep out and tidy up chicken coops. Always more work to do when one thing is finished. But, it's good to stay busy, huh?

Busy Summer So Far

Had a miss-hap unloading hay from truck. Thought I broke my butt! Feeling better now, it hurt to sit, walk or stand for several days. I worked last week on getting these blocks topped by sewing just a few minutes at a time. Now I realize it still needs two black border strips.Didn't crop the photo so the "design wall" location shows. No room at the doorway for anything so it's a perfect place to hang the old poly batting to stick blocks on. (Doorway leads to kitchen, garage door to my back).

Storms every day with rain the past week. The area is still in a drought, not as much rainfall as needed yet.Mustang Mountain was a beautiful sight this morning.

July BlockParty blocks finished day of drawing. I donated them to sweeten the pot for winners.August block is a fun jar using prints of anything you would keep in a jar. I have bugs and fruits for those.

Poodle kids are lazy on hot days. Wonky is the biggest slug. Some days he has to be dragged out- LOL.

Our foster- MicroDog visits Dreamer. Tuff little dog wants to conquer the horses but he is barely as big as a hoof. MicroDog should be up on PetFinder any day, rescue has photos now. MD really needs a home cuz he is getting too settled here.

Wonky Wednesday

I had no idea how much fun they would have......

with all the sand.....

left from the carport construction.

Only Matilda is not interested....in a sand pile.

Now I know .....

where all the sand is coming from...inside the house.....
12 poodle feet, ugh !!!

Lots of Loops and Look OuT!!!!

I've been hooking like crazy lately in between the wrapping of gifts, playing with Sloan, painting the nursery at our daughter and son in law's home, baking batches and batches of cookies...so pulling loops well it relaxes me. Finished this one over the weekend and before it was even complete it was spoken for.

Drew this one up with February in mind...do you see the black lil' legs and the dotted snowflakes....well a certain little boy who shall remain nameless but will later be featured in this post thought he would draw some extras. He does love my sharpies! Think I may let him draw me a pattern he is becoming quite the artist :)

Using up some blues in the scrap basket...another one to bind!

Had some of the dirty yellows left over so of course another snowman and heart.

Look I did get one bound...the Mr. Chill rug by Kathy over at the Orange Sink's design. So I'm enjoying this one and will for years and years to come!

Scrapbasket woolies fashioned into a heart mug rug...still need bound.

Log Cabin Mug rug...yep this one needs bound, too.

Simple basket of posies mug rug...where is that needle and thread!

House and flowers mug rug...also from wooley scraps.

Well I've put the hook up and found my needle and thread so I'll be binding for the next couple of days.

Today my little guy and I built a fort of quilts, sheets, bar stools and a card table. He is a silly and onery lil' guy always keeping me on my toes!

Tomorrow we may have to pull out some more tables and make a tunnel to our fort at least it keeps him busy!

Now for the look out....we gave him an early Christmas present and he asked me today as he was driving around the yard if he need a Driver's License to drive this. I beginning to think he may need driver's ed because he wants to drive with one hand, wave, and look where he has been more than where he is going! So look out if you see a little blue electric four wheeler we have an unlicensed driver with a sense for the need to speed.

Happy Trails....Ginger

Me and my shadow

To celebrate my good news from the vet, the Mom and Dad took us for a long walk along my favorite path.

It sure does look different in winter and Mom said she misses all the green. It was still pretty in a dreary winter kind of way - not that I noticed as the only thing I was interested in was the SMELLS and to be sure, there was plenty of good ones.

Of coarse the pesky Wuzster "shadow" was right there by my side the whole time. Why the little dude can't go off exploring by himself I don't know. This path leads up the lookout where you can see for miles and miles in all directions. We didn't climb to the top today as Mom was worried about my leg and she was getting pretty cold. So off we went back down the path heading for MY car and a great time was had by all.
