What a noisy 4 days

After two practice days and then two days of the show, I am pretty happy the Blue Angels have gone now and so is Franklin - the poor little guy thought it was thunder and would sit there trembling and shaking every time they started flying. The noise didn't bother me but I didn't like my dad spending so much time watching them and not playing with me. Mom made a little video of bits of the flying over the last few days. She apologizes for not getting any close ups but she had to record this on her digital camera and not the video camera because the silly battery on the video won't hold a charge and kept going flat after only a few minutes. On Saturday we actually sat on the top of a hill over looking the base rather then fighting the crowds and that was good because doggies were not allowed on there over the weekend. We did actually go and check out a new park too on Sunday but we didn't stay long as dad noticed there was poison ivy growing all along the hedge near the path and he is very very allergic to it. The good thing is, there are plenty of other nice parks to visit.

Pinecrest weekend...and MOM! I am not climbing that boulder!

Pinecrest is a really pretty lake. Lots of rock, and sweet little coves.

As mom enjoys a bit of rock climbing now and again, she thought this boulder would get me into climbing as well.....Hmmmmm...not sure I understood...... Don't think this is my cup of tea mom!
Dad! Help!
Am I doing it right? Mom, that's enough..... I'll just watch you sometime, ok?
Sweet little cabin in the Pinecrest area.

A pretty little cove. I'm checking stuff out....
Rock island....looks like a party over there!
Saturday eve, we tied our kayak up with our cousin's boats, and called it a day.
Lots to see.......

Kayaking on Pinecrest Lake

Pinecrest Lake is at 5,600 feet above Sonora, CA. We spent the weekend there this weekend, and I got to ride in the kayak again! Loved checking things out...this is a pretty lake, surrounded by granite bluffs at the end, cabins all around, and a large beach area...lots to check out...
There are some cliffs in the way back...and a boat that transports people and cabin stuff behind us...

Sunset....and mom's feet with flip flops......

This and That...

Hootie and I got our hairs cut on Tuesday. Mommy asked Jody (our beautician) to cut all the hair off our bellies ‘cause we have been picking up cheat grass a lot lately in our romps. Anyway, Jody obliged and here are a few photos of our new doos.

Remember the big furry chaps that some of the cowboys used to wear?
Now look at Hootie. Anybody see a resemblance?

On Saturday Mommy took Hootie to the county fair and it happened that there was a small animal parade at that time. Well, she decided to see how Hootie would behave and it turns out he does tricks on command in front of an audience! He won $4.00 in half dollars and even got a participant ribbon. Since this was spur of the moment he didn’t have any of his cute outfits on. Too bad, because there was a BIG ribbon for the best dressed pet and hooman combination. Maybe next year our mommy will be better prepared. (Maybe not! C.)

That's all for now friends. Hope your week is going well.

What is that noise!!!!!

This weekend is the Offutt Air force Base "Freedom Airshow" and even as I sit under the table protecting moms feet (and dictate this to her) there are jets thundering over our heads and making the windows rattle. Mom says we live in line with the south north runway and about half a mile from the base and that is why it is so loud because today we are right in their flight path as they do their practice maneuvers and trust me - they are noisy!!! My dad, being a retired Navy ...is thrilled that they are having the Navy Blue Angels flying this year and no doubt mom and dad will be there bright and early on Saturday to see all the planes and displays. Last year it was the air force Thunderbirds and Dad didn't think they were all that good (da ya think that is the Navy in him speaking!) Mom thought they were brilliant and she is sure the Blue Angels will be too. Personally I do not think it is fair....I can go with my mom on the base any other time but there is NO dogs allowed this weekend. How can protect mom's feet????

Here is a little video mom made as they flew over the house

Would You Like to Win A Pumpkin Patch Pinkeep?

I made this little pinkeep last weekend straight from the scrap basket. I made the little pumpkins 3~D by stuffing them with bits of wool and it is completely handsewn and made of 100% wool. Inside is filled with crushed walnut shells that will keep your pins and needles nice and sharp. Even if you don't sew it would make a great little bowl filler or just tuck it up on a shelf.

So if you would like to enter to win just leave a lil' comment on this post and if you don't have a blog remember to leave an email address so I can notify you if you win.

I'll draw a name on Wednesday evening, September 2nd.

A Little Each Day!

I've steadily been putting in 10 minutes of hooking each night and the Peace On Earth Rug is almost done. It's been fun seeing how each part comes together. I can't seem to find any time during the day due to an active lil' boy. I caught him climbing in a chair today and up into the windowsill to have a closer look at the cows.

I did find a little spare time to make a new penny rug. Autumn days will be here soon and I've been in the mood for a little pumpkin making. I might even have to open up the cupboard doors and find some goodies to make some muffins.

Here's a tasty treat "Pumpkin Bran Muffins" and they are only 1 point on Weight Watchers.

Here is what you need:
2 cups All Bran or Fiber One Cereal
1 Cup Skim Milk
3/4 cup canned pure pumpkin
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 egg
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/4 cups flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

Mix cereal and milk: let rest 5 minutes. Add pumpkin, egg, spice and brown sugar. Stir until mixed. Add flour, salt and baking powder. Mix together. Spray your muffin tin with cooking spray and bake at 350 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out cleanly.

Be sure to check back later this week I'll be having another giveaway.

How We Spent A Hot Summer Day!

Popsicles are a good way to cool off but a trip to the....

Zoo was what we did today. Just my lil' sidekick and me! He just makes my day brighter!

We rode the Centennial train two times and he just loves it when they sound the whistle!

He wanted to walk up to the big buffalo and see it...he thought it was a bull. Must come from being out here on our farm so much.

The rhino's were out today.

He had to ride the lil' bronze one!

It was really hot here today and the zoo wasn't busy at all. We spent about 4 hours at the zoo and we both had a really good time. We had to visit the gift shop before we left and Sloan found some turtles and a big plastic fish that looked like Nemo that we had to bring home to play with tomorrow.

Hope you enjoyed your day and someone brought some sunshine into your day!

20-hr camp trip to the Russian River

Well....after dad working late Friday eve, Saturday morning we piled into the camper and off we went to the little town of Duncan Mills and camped by the Russian River.
As promissed, mom pumped up the boat, and we had a paddle Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning..... Weather was on the foggy / chilly side, but the sun peeked through a few times...and the campground was more full than mom and dad have ever seen!!!
There was lots to see, and interesting stuff too.....

Birds nest high in the tree......

Fog teasing us by rolling back in!

You look that way, I'll look over here.....

Wow! Up close!

Mallards, but they didn't want us that close.....

I am a pretty serious looking kayaker here....lots to see...mom thinks I may have been eye-balling her hairdoo again! (I didn't go after it this time)

Colorful kayaks and canoes.

Yes, I have some funny kayak positions...and yes, mom is paddling and dad is keeping me occupied with my stickie....

Quite pretty and green out.

Saturday eve BONFIRE at the beach of the campground. Wooooh! That's a big one...but hosted by the campground folks.....

Campground beach coffee shack...funky artsy trailer!

I'm ready to go!! Let's roll that thing down to the beach. Come on slow pokes!

More wildness at the campground! This fella was guarding the campsite below......

These pink birdies were just hanging out. Very quiet like. Lots of them!

This campsite was on CNN! The two gals who were here, stay for 30 days and have been coming here for THIRTY YEARS! The site has evolved over the years, but they are becoming quite famous at this point.

Trolling........

The Russian River

Trolling again...lots of little seaweeds and bubbles....
Napping with dad....he tends to fall asleep in the boat! Too much hard work during the week.

Lots of GREEN!

Get that stickie!
Sunday afternoon, dad headed off on a 3 hour bike ride out to the coast....mom was happy, as he was EXACTLY 3 hours, didn't get lost, didn't get a flat, and had enough food. So, I helped lick off that salty sweat and get dad ready to head home....

Ready to head home dad!?
