Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Oh sweet Daddy it's your birthday today! We've been looking all over for you. We had Mommy ring the bell hoping you'd come running over the hill the way we do. No such luck. No Daddy.

Hootie gave his cutest little dog-urchin look. Still no Daddy.

Finally I decided just to lay down and mope 'cause Mommy said you're working and have to spend your birthday all alone this year. Poor Daddy. We love you and miss you. We'll call you tonight and slobber on the phone to you!! Happy Birthday!!

XOXO- Baby & Hootie

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY! Hmmmmm!?!?!?

Primitive HAND hooked Turkey!

Remember those days from grade school when you would trace around your hand and then pull out the crayon box and make it into a turkey to take home for Mom to put it on the refrigerator for the Holiday season. Well I've been drawing around Sloan's little hands and showing him how to make turkeys and yesterday while he was napping I thought it might be fun to draw up a silly little hand turkey and hook up a little mat and that's just what I did. I finished the binding this evening and I hope to offer him on eBay in a couple of weeks.

My Mom bought Sloan this great lil' stick horse and gave it to him today. He loves it! He keeps telling me he's a cowboy and that he needed a horse so his great~grandma really came through. You push on it's ear and it whinny's and makes a galloping sound. He keeps saying Giddy Up....I'm a cowboy! When Papa got home he made a dash for the door and was out running across the yard riding his horse....I was hollaring "Whoa Cowboy"....that lil' horse and cowpoke sure do travel fast!

Happy Trails....Ginger

My mom loves me

Even though mom's knees were hurting and she needed a cane to help her walk, she still took me to the park today so I could have a nice long run - she loves me so much!!! It was the perfect weather for me, only 61 degrees which is the coolest we have had in so many months. We spent a long there as mom could only walk slow but I had the best time running and sniffing. Can you believe it though, yet again I had the whole park to myself - no buddies to catch up with - sigh. I guess I did have some company though (apart from mom) there were hundreds of these hopper things. Mom said they were either grasshoppers or locust but I don't care what they were because to me they were just annoying!! They would jump up and land in my fur every time I went to sniff a bush and they were eating the yellow flowers that mom likes. I even managed to chomp one but it didn't taste at all nice so I spat it out very quickly. This afternoon I went over to visit Franklin and we went for a short walk together around our common. Franklin hasn't been going out much lately so he really enjoyed his stroll.

Sooooo bored

Mom's arth-e-rit-tus thing has been really bad the past week and we haven't really been doing much (apart from veggin on the couch) so I will give you an update on Bonnies kitty. She came home on Saturday and she is eating and drinking tiny bits now, but she has only one kidney working and her pancreas and liver are not functioning very well so sadly it is just a matter of time before the rainbow bridge calls her to cross. Mom has been going over twice a day to give her antibotics and says she is getting weaker every time she see's her. Mom is also VERY worried about Bonnie - she was already very frail and this whole thing has her so upset and she isn't sleeping or eating properly. Mom has sat down with her and talked about her taking care of her own health too. Sadly this kitty was Bonnie's husbands (he passed away a few years ago) and the kitty is sort of Bonnies last link to him so she doesn't want to let her go. Humans really live very complicated lives, I think it is much better just being a dog and I just want to go visit my buddy Franklin. I am also not very happy at being left at home again when mom goes over there and all because I am a little bit partial to chasing the kitties. That is what doggies do - chase kitties although I must admit Bonnies kitties scare me a bit. Mom says that's not a good thing to do at the moment so I have to stay home. My ouchie leg is all healed now, but where they shaved the fur off is starting to grow back and dog oh dog it is itchy. Hopefully mom will feel better tomorrow and we can go somewhere exciting.

Rumors of an unopened gift!

This morning, I reminded mom that we should make a visit to Golden Samantha, as we had heard of an unopened gift over there....something about Happy Hearts.....mmmm
And, gosh, it seemed like it had been a long time since we had played together, and that I was long overdue for a toy-squeeker- testing of all the fuzzies in Sammie's toy basket! Off we went....it was great to visit!
With a bit of light nudging, we encouraged Sammie's mom to bring the box out. The box had 'FRAGILE' all over it...and smelled pretty gosh darn good! Go Sammie!
I took a break from squeeker testing to sniff things out....
Breakthrough! Sammie could smell all those delicious aromas....
The box was FILLED with treats galore from Gerri Duquette of HAPPY HEARTS!!!!!!!
What a really nice gift! All shapes and different sniffs.... Let me have a look, Sammie!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I will just open the box a bit more, ok?
Just the right size for Sammie's head!
I kept myself busy and let Sammie investigate....had a few more things to chew, squeek, and snaggle.
Get it! Football squeeker!
But, couldn't help going back over to see more of the box contents. Lovely Happy Hearts!
Yes! Was able to wrangle myself some of the inner wrapping. Love this stuff....shreds nicely....snaggle, snaggle, snaggle.... Wooweeeeeeee!!!! Can you believe what was in there! Lots of animal shapes, and cinnnamon, garlic....mmmmmm smells good!
Below is the nice note from the box that Sammie's mom was reading to us....I decided that it might taste good too! Oh! The most specialist cookie, a heart shape with 'Samantha' on it. That's really sweet!
Ok, well MY mom got involved...and good golly! Mom had to sample EVERY cookie flavor before us!!! And, we were sittin' really nicely (well, I was jumping really nicely too!) But gosh! MOM!
"""Mom's just teasing us....seeing how long we can sit NICELY! Sammie did a much better job at waiting.
"Hey! Sierra Rose! SIT DOWN!"
"""Look at this! What's up - MOM?!....... No lunch again? Gotta eat our yummzers cookies! Your're embarassing me!"""
"""Ok! If I need to come up there and get us our patiently deserved delicious HAPPY HEARTS that you decided are scrumtious to you too....well! Here I come!!!!""" We had a fun time sampling Happy Hearts! What a neat, and delicious gift. Sammie was really pleased, and oh so much more patient than I! Gotta love her sweet face!

Morning walks.....

Most mornings, mom and I make the 5 minute drive to McInnis Park for a walk, jog, and sometimes sprint...(but mom never wears the right shoes to keep up with me). Looking out towards Mt. Tamalpais...this is the path we like to take.
A tidal marsh. Home to egrets, sandpipers, mallards, geese and many others. I'm just watching...lots of movement. This county has a diverse fall migratory bird population, and this area is quite popular for bird walks.
Midway bench. Las Gallinas waterway behind me...the bench looked quite enviting.
Might as well just get a taste and sharpen my snagglers, while we are here.....
Mom quickly cut that activity short.....so, just sniffed the bench.....'ah, bench..I'll be back!'

We watched this lovely egret fly....those magnificent wings.

And, a pair of mallards swimming along.

Back past the tidal marsh.....

Tough to see, but there are lots of birds feeding here.

Taking a sniff...

Back we went.....

See you next time McInnis!
