An Early Happy Easter To Ya...

Sheesh Mommy,
Do ya think you could hold the camera still?
She thinks #2 is an artistic shot!
There you go, this one is in focus. Good work!

We're going to take a cue from our friends Martha and Baily and not post until after the Passover/Easter holiday season (they are at the same time this year!). We'll try to get around to visit other blogs in the mean time. Have a great week. Remember to stop and smell the flowers and we'll see ya'all in April!!

Wordless Wednesday

Let's Talk About The WEATHER

Oh my, ch9 weatherman last night gave a scary report. Wed & Thurs this area will have 60mph sustained winds. Holy Cow, wind gusting will be 75 to 80 mph. I will spend the rest of today making sure there is nothing around the house that could blow away. Thank goodness DH has put hurricane strapping on all the barn beams.
Weather here can go to extreme over night. Below are pics of snow we had a couple weeks ago. It was overnight snow and gone by noon. Temps the following days were in 70's.

Front drive looking towards Ft Huachuca & mountains. Blue sky by noon.

Baby blooming apple tree (still blooming and leafing up).

Wild bird area next to desert wash (Biscuit Mountain to right in background).

Temp backyard coop.

Front yard coop.

Look What Came In The Mail

I just love this wonderful lil' Sheep that Betty needle punched and sent to me as a belated birthday gift. Let me tell you it was well worth the wait!!! If you have ever had the honor of seeing Betty's work in person you'll know the care and love she puts into her work. She also sent a cute notepad, and some yummy dip I can't wait to try. Thank you so much Betty.

Look at the gobblers that have been visiting....

Someone wanted to see how fast they could run...believe me fast as lightening.

It's Never Too Late....

Well It's never too late to learn a valuable lesson and believe you me I've learned one. I should never ever let things pile up....so from now on I'll be whipping those rugs as I get them done. Well I've finished up 6 in the massive pile....but one is a challenge rug so it can't be shown just yet. I even hung them up here and there in the house. The lil' welcome mat is hanging in the guest/toy room. The dolls were made by my dear friend Betty.

This basket of flowers I hooked back last May and just finished up the binding. I think this is where it all started....should have bound it when I got it done!

This was a challenge rug from last fall. I bound this one with wool.

The bossy behind I tried whipping the edges with wool strips and it went really fast. Looks pretty good on the old milk stool.

This basket of flowers I hooked about a week ago and I also whipped the edges with wool strips and it's hanging on the wall.

I thought at first I had about 23 to finish but after cleaning I found a few stray mats that needed the binding also so guess I'll just keep plugging away.

So what's your favorite way to bind a rug? Thought I would try a variety of ways to see what I like best.

Weekend Fun!

Saturday we had an early Easter Egg hunt planned for the kids but the weather just wasn't fit to be outside...rainy with winds up to 50 miles an hour would have blowed the eggs into the surrounding states so we just hid them in the house.

Of course the kids don't mind and you'll see why in just a second.

Our daughter "Jenn" and her Grandma Pat watch as the kids have fun.

Eggs everywhere!

Now you know why the kids young and old alike enjoy the hunt. Danny and I throw our change in a big jar all year long and then fill the eggs with change and throw in a dollar or two....

Sloan spent the night and was able to go to church with us on Sunday.

After church we went to the OKC zoo. It was a really nice day...just a lil' cool with a light wind.

After the zoo and a refreshing nap....Sloan helped his Papa with putting out some feed for the cows and of course a tractor ride is always fun.

We can't forget to feed the fish.

Well it was a great weekend. I always love it when we have family over and we get to spend time with the ones we love.

Broody Hen & other not Quilty Stuff

It has been so windy here, days would be nice with all the sun and 68 degree temps. It's just hard enjoy outside with 30mph wind gusts. Fruit trees are blooming and a few other plants are greening up. The little pomegranite tree is sprouting leaves, it looked so dead. One of the hens has gone broody, I've put her out back to get a new outlook on life. She is so cranky now, the rooster out back stays away from her. (Both are free to roam inside the block wall). Hope she can get back to normal.
Here she is on her nest yesterday, all fluffed out and angry.

Old book, new to me. Read about this book on another blog, really like the cover quilt (it has been on my to-do list for years). Ordered from a used book dealer and here it is. I still need more of the lighter fabrics, but some day.......

Made these for my sis a couple weeks ago. She really liked them. They were fun to make, fast to finish (compared to a quilt, that's for sure) and not too futzy or fiddly to work on.

Sunshine, Lolipops & Rainbows...

We just got this sunny, bright award from our long-legged Dane pal, Darwin, so before our mommy forgets who gave it to us (like usual) we made her post it. Post haste!! All we have to do is post it and pass it on. We're going to acknowledge some of our friends here right now, but open this up to all our special friends since we truly do love ya' all. So, feel free to claim this award, post it on your sidebar and make a list of buddies who have put their stamp on your hearts! We actually somehow missed our 1st bloggiversary on Feb 2nd but wanted to make sure that the dogs & their hoomans that inspired us know how much we appreciate them.

The very first poochie we met on line (around April 2008) was Bogart ~ that irresistible handsome devil! It was quite a time before we actually got our own blog but Bogie was our inspiration. Mommy talked about us on her blog, but it just wasn't the same as having our own special identity & voice. I (BabyRD) remember being amazed at all the great photos of Bogart's everyday exploits and how his family went to all the best dog-friendly spots in Portland to eat. Thanks buddy!! We love ya!

In the beginning we stuck mainly to Airedale sites so met these wonderful Dales (& Welshie!): Noah and his sisters ~ Maggie & Mitch ~ Ruby ~ Molly & Taffy (& now Monty too). It has been such a terrific trip getting to see how our mates in Australia, England and New England behave and what their lives are like. Of course we lurked in the background for awhile before we found our voice, and learned from these our predecessors.

The names Butchy & Snickers and Agatha & Archie attracted our attention right off the bat too. Catchy names and even catchier blogs! Mommy fell in love with these adorable WFT's and followed them long before our dogblog was started. If Mommy hadn't found Hootie to adopt in June 2008 she would have gotten a WFT to keep us company because of these pooches.

Well, from there we found out there are all kinds of wonderful breeds of dogs that are very easy to fall in love with. We met Chase the Puggle and were amused by his antics. He sent Hootie the very first gift he(we) ever received in the mail for his birthday last year. Yummy dog biscuits that we only ate for special occasions! Thank you for your thoughtfulness Chase. Then we met Honey who has since gone to the Rainbow Bridge. She was just a beautiful Golden girl who won our hearts. Her hoomans now are the family of Sierra Rose another swell Golden. Asta, the fabulous NYC dwelling WFT was perhaps our next pal. Her Baabaa Waawaa accent always makes our mommy laugh. And, her mama is so sweet and a brilliant artist (and
photo-shopper!!). Asta has helped us with her photo magic more than once and she is always so gracious. Martha and Bailey are Bassets that we met after Asta's Spring Fling last year. I,BabyRD, had an exciting evening with the dashing Westie, Hamish, at the Fling and have had to visit Scotland off & on ever since! Our dear friend Hamish has since gone to the Rainbow Bridge, but his girl,Gail, promises to keep in touch with us AND she has a new babypup, Bertie, coming to her home soon!! Yippee!! We made friends with Pedro a Chi-Waa-Waa from back East who collects rocks---Had to collect rocks for him on our way back home to farrr N.Idaho. Hootie had always thought Chi's were related to rodents and meant to be "chased & ett" so Pedro helped to change his mind. THen we had the most exciting time when we got to actually meet one of our fellow DWbloggers, Dr.Dre, a fiesty little Chi-Waa-Waa in person. Turns out we live in close proximity to each other up north and we llllllluuuurve Dre!! He is so funny and fun to romp with. Not at all like a rodent!! His hoomans are terrific too. We always LOL when we read his blog. Another blog that generally cracks us all up is the hilarious Life With Dogs. We wonder how they keep up with all those followers!

Well dear ones, there are so many other wonderful DWBers that we'd have to go on forever, so we will just stop here. We suggest you just go visit the DWB blogsite and visit some new blogs. So many good pooches and hoomans out there.

Have a great week ahead. Today is Palm Sunday and Mommy tells us that Easter is the very most important day of the year, so Easter week should be very special we think.

Smooches from pooches,

BabyRocketDog & Hootie

ps-There are several dear pooches that need our PawPower right now. Please pop on over to Asta's blog to read her 27thMarch post with names and links. X-BRD

Mom just can't get a break

There doesn't seem to be any good news for me. My Mom is back in the hospital again. Those darn doctors just can't seem to get it right so I am spending a lot of time alone. I hope Dad can take me for a long walk in the park on Saturday because the weather here is just beautiful...but I'll be sad to go without my Mom.

Photobucket

What a day!!!

Golden Samantha resting her head this morning before a very special event.
Below is mom's first photo as we rode towards the Solano County Fairgrounds with our good friends, Golden Samantha and her mom. Sammie had an important competition today with the Santa Cruz Kennel Club. And, mom and I had never been to a dog show before! In the back...I was ready to PLAY...and mom in her I-worked-kinda-late last night disguise on...
Sammie had an entire set up that we wheeled in.... crates, snacks, chairs, water...
Mom and I cruised around, wow'ed and amazed at this venue, while Sammie and her mom did a little practice before her 4 minute Novice A course.

Lots and lots to look at.
Grooming and more grooming....many elaborate stations...

Some pretty major RV setups too, with big doggie areas. I think I scared all of these pals back into their RV.....(no, not really). They're back there.

Grrrrrrrr....
And, more grooming... How do these pals stand still for SOOOOO LONG!? Very patient.
Beds, bunks, carpets...outdoor rooms.
Double decker on wheels! This hall was our 'basecamp'. Lots of classes competing. Quite serious. And, I have to say, I did really well at just observing and not flying around to socialize.
Sammie's mom had on the Sammie crew attire....thanks to pals Paco, Milo and Maya.... And, please go visit Paco, he needs some well wishes.
In another building there were other competition categories.... We peeked in.

Loungers...massage....!!
Artsy pals too.

Oh yeah...had to stop here and put on my 'pretty please' face....stood there for a while...

And.....look at all these stuffies! Back in Sammie's competition hall...still being nice and observing.... And....at this point, my mom became a 'paparazzi' for the competition using Sammie's mom's camera..... Darn, no photos here, but definitely will be seeing them at http://www.sammiegolden.blogspot.com/
Even got to spend some time in Sammie's 'green room' while she was in competition. Fantastic!
Well!!!!! As you will see on Golden Samantha's site, she PLACED SECOND in her Novice A category, thus earning her CD.... Way to go Sammie!! Bravo pal!!
Gathered round in celebration.
Lots of smiles and good times. And, still more to see!
Goldens waiting for their show dog competition.
And, more competitors in the ring. Wow! Hi ya!
Below, hanging out with the gal that came in 1st place in the Novice A round. What a sweetie!
More to see and shop.....beaded eggs!By early afternoon, we were pooped, but so glad we came along! Perhaps I'll be in the ring someday...looked like fun.
A tired, yet happy, Sammie relaxing on our drive home. Ahhhhhh.
See you again soon friends..... And, ps. go see Golden Samantha there is a nice post about her competition!
